To go down to the service you had to speak to Arthur Donn. Norm Smith was a manager. Jack was offered to be open-cut manager at Minmi.

Ray Norris was at Stockrington No. 2. Joe Harrison was at Abermain No. 2. Jack Donn passed and got his manager’s ticket the same time as Jack Dodd. Stanford was still producing coal in September 1950 when Jack Dodd worked there. Sam Wilkie. Bill Myler became the superintendent. Paxton closed 30th June 1951.

Jim Pryor was the Richmond Main manager and took 3 months leave which Jack filled in his absence. Abermain No.2 was steam powered which ceased production in 1963. Worked at the Greta Seam at Paxton Colliery and the main seam and Aberdare Central.

Worked at Greta seam at West Neath, near the north tunnel. Nearly all the Neath tunnel was washed away. Neath had 14 ft. of coal, then a ft. black stone, then black coal 8 inches of it. It was strong and hard coal.

Abermain No.1, Greta Main had a tunnel opposite the bathhouse. Kel Stein is a very confidential private person concerning colliery records. Richmond Main was sold by auction bought by John Brown in Melbourne. He bought Pelaw Main. When it was bought the Stanford-Greta tunnels were built.

When they built the first airfields the timber came from Tester's Hollow.

Joe McHarg told Jack Delaney about a thesis of the mines and Noel Compton who was with the Hunter Valley Council mentioned the thesis to Jack Delaney. Samuel Clift took out the first lease of Abermain Colliery No.1 and Alan Clift is related to Jack Dodd’s wife’s aunt.
