Jack Moran. He was a ganger on the railway but not related to Jean. There was no railway when she came. They walked from Stanford Merthyr railway to Abermain. There was a post office at the bottom of Elizabeth Street - it was owned by the Paterson family. her family lived along the creek. A 2 bedroomed bag humpy, whitewashed and papered with newspaper. A bark kitchen.

Jim Garrett showed before the 1920's. He got the contract to put the electricity on in Abermain. The doctor's residence was the third place to have electricity then her place. This was in the 20's.

Clarrie Harrison used to play the violin and different people played the piano and the accordion. Parties were held everywhere. She pointed out how people used to turn the TV off when they had visitors but now 9 out of 10 don't. Conversation is different.

Connection of town lighting, Abermain. The street lights came through about 10 years after the house was connected. The power came from Caledonia. Power in the mine was mainly by steam.

Harry Howard. Roads in the early days were just tracks and when her daughter died aged 5, Dorothy's husband had to chop down the bushes for the funeral to get out. In those days people in Abermain were buried in Kurri or Cessnock.

The original cemetery in Wollombi was flooded away. The church had to be shifted higher up.
