Born in Wallsend, 1905 "a town of many suburbs".
"Centennial", Wallsend C shaft - Elermore Vale.
Worked at Wallsend C pit - he was there 4 years.

Member of Miner's Federation, 44 years.
Moved to Cessnock, 1925 - "after the disaster".

First worked as a clipper, sidling, wheeling then on to the coal and then on to shift work.
Tom Gleghorn older brother.
Brother worked at Thompson's bakery at Boolaroo and Wallsend.

Tom worked at Pelton Colliery.
Perce Thompson - Tom had to sleep in the bakehouse to make sure it worked all the time.
Married at Cessnock, 1930 - he was 25.

Recollection of childhood - they lived on bread and fat and bread and treacle. Up the bush at Wallsend, they picked fruit.
