Twin tunnel entries, Cessnock No. 2 Colliery. At the pit top the coal was put through the screen and the railway line ran beside it.
Location of weighbridge on the pit top, Cessnock No. 2.
Both tunnels met on the same track. Then they went up a "creeper".

Dimension of "drums" on haulage engine 18” twin cylinders.
Dick Drinkwater used to drive it.
Direction of "running road".

Recalls a smaller steam engine underneath screen – single engine.
Ventilation fan was electrically-driven.
Describes how fan was "sealed over" – during the Christmas holidays the collieries had to patrolled (by a manager and an undermanager. The Deputy sealed it with bricks. 3 seals for the two tunnels and the travelling road.

Exhaust steam of engine heated bath house and the water. The steam was then pushed back to the boiler. The water came from the town supply. No waste.
