Sam Findley discusses his childhood in Keinbah and his large family.

Born Keinbah, they called it ‘South Allendale’
His grandfather William “Bill” Findley helped build Methodist church 1890’s or 1900’s, Bill Findley was originally from Merewether, a miner
His father was killed in 1933, age 48 (born 1885)
Sonny Lee's general store, Keinbah, he helped build the church too, his daughter Jenny made lollies
“Young” Newell Lee – was adopted into the Lee family.
(Paternal) Grandfather (Findley) worked at the early Hebburn pit.
Elizabeth Jones (grandmother), Merewether girl.

Mull Hill, his (Maternal) Grandfather’s property had vineyard/cellars.
Father built "slab house" on property between Alf Hawkins’ and Rota?, Sam was born on Mull Hill, two sisters also born there, one stillborn.
Jim Findley his brother was born in Abermain.
"Sandy selection" his father's property, Sawyer’s Gully School.
House on top of Native Dog Hill, Sawyer's Gully.

Sue Barnard (Sam’s mother) – the eldest of her family.
Grandfather Findley's on Abermain/Sawyer’s Gully Road with the big orchard, worked in Hebburn.
Mull Hill was the Barnard's property on Major’s lane.
Grandfather Barnard was born in Maitland.
Errol Mears (son of Sis Mears), Aunty Sis was a sister of his Mum.
Clarrie Hawkins married Sam’s Mum’s second youngest sister.
Ollie Hawkins and Clarrie were brothers.
Alf Hawkins had cellars also, near his Grandfather’s place.

Sam bough his property off of Les Rudnidge.
The Wilderness Church near Laurie Murphy’s place.

The wine shop at Bishop's Bridge, Wentworth Inn.
Stan Waylon had a place ‘just past the wreckage’
They look at family photos: Bessie Findley (eldest sister) married Arthur Chappell from Abermain; Florrie Findley (sister) married Stan Matthews; Grace Matthews – Sam’s wife; Sam was born as triplets, one died at birth; Edie Findley (triplet sister) married Gordon Samms; Olive Findley (sister) married George McGechie; Bill Findley and Jack Findley (Sam’s twin brothers) Bill married Audrey Short Jack married Phyllis Knight, Dorrie Findley (sister).

Tom Monnix lived in the bakehouse up the road from Barney Farrell’s Slaughter house.
Father had a milk run to Abermain then he bought Bellamy’s place.
The Draytons - Bill Drayton, W.H. Drayton (Bill’s Father), Frederick Drayton (the ‘original’ Drayton), Joe Drayton
The London’s (sawmill) Eileen Williams is related to the Londons and the Brickmans.
