Recorded the day after the opening of the Library at Cessnock.
Bill is brother of early Mayor of Cessnock - Tom Gleghorn.
The History of Vineyards - Roy Vernon's grandfather had Whyalla.

George Cooper - Bill went shooting out at Payne's Crossing and Stockyard Creek.

Was early resident of Yango - Yango Mountain. Access roads have been made by the Fire Brigade.
One of the Dillon girls from this area married a fellow, Ryan. There's a bit of confusion that the Dillon girl may have been Pashfield. Another Dillon girl married Morgan Edmonds.
Sammy Richards was a clerk at a mine. Sammy's brother acting as a ranger came to check out the running of the mine.

Jim Mathieson - from Minmi - a wild man.
Reason for naming of "Bellbird" - you couldn't hear yourself talk for the sound of the Bellbirds.
Jack Hawkins - Jack came down to Bill's mother to try and rear Bill when Bill's Dad died.

Recollection of father's way with dogs - Bill's father's control over the mastiff guard dog. The dog guarded the greyhounds.
"Gameboy", name of greyhound.
Recalls father racing greyhounds.

"Wisteria", name of greyhound - a bitch crossed with Game Boy.
"Confidence", name of greyhound - won 45 races out of 48.

The fire at the Bellbird school during the night. No one was able to be charged. Recalls presenting shield to Dux of school.
Lindsay Campbell - President of the school.
Recalls fire which burnt down school - damaged to the school office wing - the records were lost. The prefabricated room was brought in to replace it.

Henry Bonomini, hotel licensee 1910.
Miller, was the prior hotel licensee.
Recalls working for dole during depression - he got 3 and ¥ shifts a fortnight - he worked on the roads and in the quarry and drove a dray - all in Bellbird.

Crawford had a small pit near the Pinch Bridge. A drift was put in. He got a fair bit of coal. There were a couple of men and his son working for him. Recalls cutting "spotted gum" props for pit.
Reasoning behind using "green stick" props.

Describes working a "stoop" - putting up the props.
