Talk of travel in colder months. Jack Delaney talking of his land and the accident he had. Life expectancy of people after they retire.

The coal mines and working there compared to at home. First work in the pit for George was in when he was 13 doing trapping. Women could not work in or around the coal mines. Minimal wages. Going up to pit top when 14 then when he was 15 on the coal cutting machine with his father. His father joined the army in 1914 as a marksman. Worked one of the hardest job on the mines before he joined the navy when he was 18, travelling while in the navy.

When out of the Navy back working with his father in the mines, contract on the machine and brushing. The draft horse. Union conditions. Some of the best workers in the pit.

George was involved with the WEA. Insurance and teaching others about it. Policy. George liked his job, as he liked to meet people. What he would have done if he had more control, such as with the cooperative. Would the cooperative movement have made a difference?

Woolworths. Insurance work. Taking people with him on jobs. Ability to use the insurance information, without having to look it up.
