Came to Weston in 1925, came straight from England. Went into insurance during the lockout. Worked in the mines in 1935, and went into the army in 1941, then when he left the army he became a test examiner taking dust samples in the pit. Work history.

The Workers Club - in 1945, George was a foundation member and the first manager. Jimmy was a secretary. The Foundation Committee members, and how they worked in England. Didn?t want pay for the club since he had a job, but when he retired he wanted them to pay him since that was all the work he had.

Colonial Mutual and the pit work George was doing. Went to Sydney to appear at the Supreme Court to try to get a stay of proceedings in regard to eviction. The Barrister was Dave Mackillop was a socialist became a Judge later on. Talk of building of houses and finding work. Workers Educational Association secretary from 1931 or 1932 until 1936. Clarry Martin offered George an insurance job, then Clarry lost his seat in Goulburn to Jack Lambert, got a job in charge of the Australian Gas Company. How George became involved with insurance work.

First pit George worked on was Richmond Main. The manager was Jimmy Johnson. Talking of Geordie Bill. Talk of the War years, they sold the sports ground, Talk of the one they prepared and the selling of lollies and pies at the games. Trying to stop the club putting in the poker machines.
